Welcome to Wandering Sole Therapies

About Me

I’m Jo, a Clinical Reflexologist and Holistic Therapist based at The Pamper Room in Syston, Leicestershire.

After a 20-year career working as a professional fundraiser for various charities, in late 2020 I took the opportunity to retrain as a self-employed holistic therapist. I started my own business in September 2021 - Wandering Sole Therapies - where I provide a range of therapies including Reflexology, Hand Reflexology, Chakra Balancing, Aromaflexology, Reiki and Indian Head Massage as well as guidance and support with mindfulness and meditation.

I trained with David Wayte at Jubilee College of Reflexology rated as being ‘Outstanding’ by Centralia at the 2020 school’s verification awards. David Wayte, the founder of Jubilee College, was the first Reflexologist in the UK to be made a member of the Royal Society of Medicine.

I am fully insured, DBS checked and a full member of the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) and registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

So why the name Wandering Sole Therapies? Well basically, my fiancé James and I have been full time vanlifers since June 2021.

We brought our van ‘Dwayne’ in December 2020 and James has since turned him into our dream home. It was hard work initally balancing living and building the van – when we first moved in, we literally had our bed and the beginnings of a shower/toilet room. By the end of December 2021, Dwayne had been fully transformed and now has a fitted bespoke kitchen (oven, hob, fridge, and sink), separate shower/toilet room as well as a bench seating area.

We've been primarily based across Warwickshire and Leicestershire… but our long-term out plan is to be able to travel the UK offering treatments in the van and at wellness festivals and events – watch this space!

We might not have been able to travel too much yet but we definitely see ourselves as wandering souls but in this case ‘soles’ due to my love of reflexology and working on the feet.

The Benefits of Holistic Therapies

Reflexology

Reflexology is based on the idea that parts of the body are reflected in the reflexes on the feet, hands, face and ears.

Manipulation of these reflexes can help to release the tension caused by pain to promote relaxation and stimulate the body’s own healing processes.

Benefits may include reduced stress levels, improved sleep patterns, boosted energy levels, reduction in headaches or migraines, ease of muscular tension and lots more!

I also offer Hand Reflexology, Crystal Reflexology with Chakra Balancing and Aromaflexology.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique... the term comes from the Japanese words 'rei' meaning universal and 'ki' meaning vital life force energy that flows throughout every living thing; reiki is not linked to any specific religion or belief.

In a Reiki treatment, the practitioner uses light and gentle hand movements to guide the flow of energy throughout the body to help promote healing.

I find Reiki to be the most beautiful natural treatment and Taggert King, Reiki Master/Teacher describes the benefits of ‘the Reiki effect’ as more laid back, calm and serene, better able to cope, more positive, and less affected by stressful people and stressful situations.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a relaxing massage to the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, face and scalp.

Benefits include relief from headaches, neck and back pain and tension as well as helping to reduce stress and anxiety and promote an overall feeling of relaxation and calm.

I offer Indian Head Massage both as a sole treatment but also combined with a Reflexology treatment as a 'Head to Toe' package.

What’s your availability and how do I book a treatment?

You can visit my gorgeous treatment room based at The Pamper Room, 4 Brookbridge Court, 1189 Melton Road, Syston, Leicestershire, LE7 2JT.

Appointments are available throughout the day, evening and at weekends, contact me directly to arrange an appointment.

Please note if you want to cancel an appointment, I require at least 24hrs’ notice, otherwise you will still need to pay for the session missed. I accept payment in cash, bank transfer or via PayPal.

What happens in a treatment? Do I need to undress?

For Reflexology and Reiki treatments, the client lies back on the reclining chair, supported by pillows and covered with a soft blanket to keep them warm (depending on the weather!)

Reflexology is performed on the feet, ankles or the hands so the most the client has to do is to take off their socks and roll up their trousers! For Reiki treatments, the client can leave their shoes on or take them off - whatever they find more comfortable!

For an Indian Head Massage treatment, the client remains seated in an upright position. Although it is possible to perform Indian Head Massage without removing clothing, please do wear a vest top or something that gives access to the upper back and shoulders (a blanket/towel will be provided).

What if I'm worried about the state of my feet?

Please don't be!

I regularly get clients worried about the state of their feet - that they look 'awful', they might smell, or are a bit dirty. I've never had an 'awful' pair of feet - ever! Even if your feet do smell (which they probably don't!) I have a gorgeous smelling foot-spray so they will smell amazing once I'm finished. I always clean feet at the beginning of the treatment, so a bit of dirt doesn't really matter.

And as I'm a 'nelipot', I'm always walking around barefoot and used to dirty feet!

Do I need to have regular treatments?

It's entirely up to you!

After their first treatment, many clients choose to book in for either regular weekly or monthly sessions as a 'top-up' to help maintain their general health and wellbeing. Other clients book in as and when they feel they need a treatment.
